Enrichment Opportunities

Students are encouraged to develop not only academically but also personally, socially, creatively and in sports. We offer a wide range of activities and opportunities beyond the formal curriculum through our enrichment programme.

Volunteering: Students are actively encouraged to participate in the volunteering programme.  Volunteering activities include being subject mentors for younger students, supporting younger students with their reading, supporting the local Academies at open evenings and promotional events, helping with sports fixtures and running teams, supporting drama productions or volunteering to help in the library and with local primary school transition events.

Leadership Opportunities: We encourage all students to take on roles of responsibility and leadership including standing for the School Council, public speaking and presenting assemblies.  We support the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Sports Leadership Award and for some students the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

B6 Enrichment Programme: .We offer an extensive range of activities for students to take part in such as Access to the Gym, Bands and Ensembles, Couch to 5K, Choir, School Production, Badminton, Book Club, Business, Debate Society, Digital Leaders/Esports, Enterprise, Musical Theatre Festival Team, Netball, Spanish Club, Staff vs Sixth Form Sports, Volleyball. There are also a wide range of educational visits through Year 12 and Year 13.

Inspiration for the Future: Throughout the two years we have a number of inspirational speakers, including representatives from local universities and businesses, who will help students think about their next steps.

Supporting students into top universities
Bradgate Sixth Form supports those Year 12 and 13 students with the academic potential to attend leading universities, and access top professions such as law, medicine, engineering or teaching.

Graduates, on average, earn £10k per year more than non-graduates, and those attending the most competitive universities earn 40% more. However, at present only 23% of non-selective state school students access these top universities and courses.
Working with a regional collaboration of head teachers in the East Midlands and top universities including Oxbridge, Sheffield, York, Exeter, Newcastle, St George’s Medical School, SOAS and King’s College London,  Bradgate Sixth Form  offers the Elephant Access programme to Y12 and 13 students.

Elephant Access provides a range of activities, trips and experiences to support students’ aspirations, attainment and applications to top universities, and ensure our most academically capable students access top third universities at the end of their time with us. For more information visit www.theelephantgroup.org  Twitter: @TheElephantGrou

Accessing Higher Education – For our most able Sixth Form students we encourage them to take part in outreach opportunities provided by local universities, Oxford and Cambridge. Many of these are career/subject specific and our students will be supported and guided as individuals to make sure they access lectures, courses, trips and summer schools which are specifically relevant to them.
